A Passionate Gardenerette

The vision for life is important as without it there is no hope for anyone to pursue anything in life. Passion in life means having a strong feeling of enthusiasm for doing something in life. I love gardening. It is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.

I realized that gardening has been my passion since I was little. I used to spend a lot of time planting in my garden. As a kid, I was acquainted with fruit trees, vegetable plants and even names of flowers. Several plants have entered and exited my garden. I like to experiment with various plant species which gives me immense pleasure and peace. I love being called a “Gardenerette” by my parents.

Growing plants on your own is the gift that keeps on giving knowledge and food. I love to nurture baby plants. Sometimes things don’t work but most do, and it’s all part of the fun. My garden is a package of super productive space that I feel totally connected too and in awe of. I see and enjoy how each and every plant seems to be growing from one day to another. I get a dopamine rush from getting my hands soiled. The smell of damp soil takes me to another world filled with joy and happiness.

Gardening, being my passion, has taught me many things about life like keeping balance with time, effort and energy thus creating a spiritual bond of mine with nature. Spending time in the beauty of nature is like doing yoga and meditation for me which keeps my brain and body healthy, fit and relaxed. It grows upon my heart like a lovely art in which sowing seeds in the soil, pruning the tips of fruit trees to make them look attractive and increase their bearing capacity, training climbers on wooden planks, etc. bring enthusiasm in me.

I have a variety of flower plants in my garden and terrace like Zinnia, Chrysanthemum, Tuberose, Portulaca, Gardenia, Sunflower, Marigold, etc. I regularly water the plants in my garden and soften the soil near their roots so that the roots get atmospheric air so that the plant survives well. This keeps my body physically fit, active and smart thus working as a good daily exercise for me. In the morning, when I visit my garden it brings me in touch with green plants and flowers which is good for my eyes and lungs which are filled with pure air indicating a good sign for my health.

Gardening keeps us in two worlds simultaneously, the home and nature, that is, the world of our family and its joys and problems and the world of the trees, bushes, plants, and flowers and their charms. It proves to be the most accessible work for a human being which requires enough motivation for a better yield. Insects like butterflies, honey bees, flower beetles are a regular visitor to my garden as they work as pollinators for many fruit trees.

Gardening gives us a connection to nature that we sometimes don’t get in the hustle and bustle of big cities.
